Pre-Season Friendly

Takeley saw two of their penalties saved as Bishop’s Stortford won the inaugural Gordon Silvester Memorial Trophy 2-4 on spot kicks after a 1-1 draw at the Full Vision Stadium on Tuesday.
The Pre-Season Friendly was named in honour of the late Takeley FC President, with the Blues presenting a pennant to the hosts, and a minute’s silence was held before the match.
Obi Onyeagwara opened the scoring in the fourth minute, he dribbled into the box from the left wing and played a one-two with Jack Smith, with the winger firing low across goal into the bottom right corner.
The Essex Senior League Play-Off winners equalised with 10 minutes to go, when a corner was headed in at close range by John Clarke through a crowd of bodies. The Stortford goalkeeper thought he had kept it out, and the referee waited for the signal from his assistant to say the ball had crossed the line.
The Blues scored all four of their penalties, with Cole Dasilva, Jaden Ogwuazor, Harry Forde and Lucas Jordan finding the net from the spot, while the Stortford trialist goalkeeper saved two of Takeley’s efforts from 12 yards.
