The first match on Bishop’s Stortford’s new all-weather artificial playing surface ended in defeat to Chelmsford City on Saturday. Alongside a number of trialists and familiar faces, Steve Castle has added former St Ives Town winger Tyrone Baker to the Blues squad for the upcoming season.

Cola Dasilva crossed from a deep position on the right and Obi Onyeagwara met the ball with a diving header inside 10 minutes past ex team-mate Adam Hayton in goal for the Clarets. Rhys Browne was fouled by the Stortford trialist goalkeeper in the box and dispatched the penalty to equalise three minutes later.

HT 1-1

Substitute Chay Cooper also scored a penalty after a foul by Mark Haines on the hour mark, before he netted his second with six minutes to go, slotting home from the edge of the box from a left wing cut back into the bottom left corner.
