Louis Walsh and Erin Amu scored their first Bishop’s Stortford goals in the Blues’ biggest home League win since March 2022, beating Lowestoft Town 4-0 at the RDA Stadium in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central Division on Saturday. Stortford now have a five point cushion below to the relegation zone, and have a positive goal difference.

Walsh gave the Blues the lead inside five minutes, cutting in off the left wing and forcing his powerful shot through debutant goalkeeper Ellis Craven’s hands into the top left corner. Amu tried a low curling effort but it drifted wide of the bottom corner from 20 yards. Harvey Sayer rattled the crossbar with a left footed free kick, it was scrambled clear but only as far as Samuel Johnson but he fired wide. Craven struggled to catch Cole Dasilvas’ long range effort, instead he let it through his gloves for a corner, and Jesse Ayoola headed clear.

Less than two minutes after the break Stortford doubled the lead, with Amu curling a left footed effort in off the post. Charlie Castle headed wide from a right wing corner but Ryan Charles made no mistake with his header from Dasilva’s cross from the right, nodding past Craven into the net. Walsh fizzed in a low cross for Fabio Virciglio who couldn’t miss and converted the tap-in from close range. Substitute Rashawn Scott forced a good diving save from Craven at a tight angle, before Thompson’s near post header from a left wing corner was also kept out. Castle controlled a right wing cross on his chest and allowed Jaden Ogwuazor to run onto the ball for a half-volley effort, but it went wide, before Virciglio fired a powerful shot from the right side of the box straight at Craven after a one-two with Dasilva. Joao Soares Rangel raced through on goal on the counter attack after a Stortford corner, but a heavy touch allowed Krasniqi time to dive in and claim the ball at the winger’s feet. Deep into injury time, Rangel tried a chip from the left side of the box but the shot went wide.

The Blues travel to Halesowen Town on Saturday 1 February and Alvechurch on Tuesday 4 February.
