Three goals in six second-half minutes saw Bishop’s Stortford lose 3-0 at Bromsgrove Sporting on Saturday. After an opening day goalless draw, the Blues have lost the next four matches, scoring one goal in the process and sit 21st in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central Division table.

Ollie Harrison had a free header but put it wide from a right wing corner, before Billy Shaw saw his low shot from the right side of the box blocked by Mark Haines. A short corner from the left followed which led to Lamin Barrow shooting from the left side of the box but he fired over the bar. Max Woodford made a fine low save to deny Shaw from a right wing cut back, and after keeping the Rouslers at bay during their fast start to the match, Stortford had a spell of possession towards the end of the first half but couldn’t fashion a clear chance from a succession of corners. From the left side of the box Aaron Greene forced a save from Tony Breeden but couldn’t meet the follow-up on the stroke of half-time.

The hosts broke the deadlock nine minutes after the resumption, a right wing corner went all the way through the six yard box and the ball was crossed back in from the left where Shaw met the ball with a diving header from close range past Woodford. Dan Trickett-Smith beat the offside trap and raced through on goal from a through ball, slotting low into the left side of the net despite Woodford getting a hand on the ball. Brad Russell was dispossessed in midfield, Bromsgrove attacked down the right and the cut back was fired in from close range by Barrow. Trickett-Smith fired wide with a shot from the edge of the box, before Obi Onyeagwara saw his strike deflected over the bar for a corner by Harrison, from which Jake Thompson saw his header blocked by the defender on the post. Jaden Charles volleyed the ball in at the near post but was flagged offside before Woodford rushed out to deny Jamille Matt as he raced through and Joe Nardelli cleared the ball.
