Pitching In Southern League Premier Central Division

Hamish Arnold

Charlie Wragg scored a hat-trick as Bishop’s Stortford lost 4-1 at Stratford Town on Tuesday. The Pitching In Southern League Premier Central Division Fixture was abandoned in second half injury time in August when Harry Titchmarsh suffered a serious injury, when the Blues were leading 1-2. It leaves Stortford with back-to-back defeats for the first time since November, dropping two places to 13th in the table, nine points from the Play-Offs and 10 above the relegation zone.

Intercepting the ball in midfield, Charlie Johnson went for an ambitious chip from the centre circle, but goalkeeper Dan Jezeph scrambled across his goal to paw it away/. Cole Dasilva’s free kick from the right wing was headed clear out to Mark Haines, his chipped cross was deflected off a Bards head to go wide. Jezeph claimed a high ball from Leon Davies with Brad Russell arriving late. Wragg dribbled into a central position from the left wing and fired into the bottom left corner with a low shot. He netted his second just four minutes later, the midfielder found himself in space in the middle of the box from a right wing cut back and he slotted into the bottom left corner for 2-0. Dasilva beat the wall with a curling and dipping free kick, but Jezeph was equal to it.

HT 2-0

Wragg completed his 14 minute hat-trick with his third in the 48th minute, picking up a through ball in the left side of the box, he shot low across goal into the bottom right corner. Charlie Boatwright-Collier flicked a backwards header from a left wing cross that went narrowly wide, before Owen James found the hosts’ fourth from a through ball into the right channel, his low shot nestled in the bottom left corner of the net. Dasilva saw his free kick blocked by the wall, he floated the back in and the clearing header fell to Deivi Kreka who struck a powerful volley which ricocheted off the crossbar. Obi Onyeagwara won a penalty when Kory Roberts fouled the winger as he dribbled into the box, and Dasilva fired into the right side netting despite Jezeph making a full stretch dive in that direction. Dasilva tested Jezeph once more from a central free kick, with a keeper making a diving save to deny him a second goal.
